In this introductory hands-on workshop, students explore basic graphic design theory and tried-and-true techniques for making an effective design using photographs or illustrations. The workshop focuses on visual communication with images and ways to find low cost, royalty free photos and illustrations—and discusses in some detail the laws that pertain to artwork.
Whether you are making a social media communication to promote your new startup, or just want to know how to use stock photography and illustrations in your designs in the future, this class is for you.
Students are encouraged to come to class with a concept in mind that they want to tackle. The class also works on a layout together and searches for effective stock images.
This class gives you:
– 10 effective typography-with-photo layout techniques
– 10 FREE or inexpensive places to find high-quality stock images
– A good designer’s summary of image rights. What you can and cannot do as a designer.
Prerequisite: Students must be able to get around in Adobe Indesign and Photoshop.
