Around O’ahu
I am a photographer born, raised and based in Honolulu. Studio 3511 Photography is where I focus on family, seniors and wedding photography. With the recent addition of my drone pilots license, I am able to take the viewpoint of a bird, soaring high overhead, following the light as it plays across the ocean. Small kid time had us building sand castles, paddling or surfing out along the breaks around Waikīkī. My aerial work focuses on the subtle interaction between people and the ocean and represents a longing to return to those childhood days. Like a memory, I am able to ‘zoom out’ and find a sense of stillness and calm which is absent when you are in the middle of the action. This is a process that requires patience. The colors of the sea and beaches reveal themselves when the conditions (lighting, clarity, tides, winds) are perfect. Capturing this sense of place through this patience helps remind me of what an amazing spot O’ahu is- and how lucky I am to be here.
