Instructor: David Ulrich
In a world in which one trillion photos are expected to be made this year, how do you create meaning in photographs that will cause the viewer to linger and look? What makes some images memorable and others forgotten?
Awaken your creativity and learn to make compelling photographs. Investigate the key elements of the visual language through assignments, slide presentations, and individual critiques for a wide range of personal and professional applications. Topics covered:
Principles of Visual Expression with a Camera
Cultivating the Art of Seeing
Creativity with a Camera: Tools and Tips
Authenticity: Discovering Your Unique Vision and Style
The Seminal work of Culling, Selecting, and Editing images
The class focuses on assisting participants in defining their own vision and approach with a secondary focus on learning to edit your own images. Editing, in this context, implies shaping your portfolio through selecting and distilling images (creating stories and compelling content) from the broad array of images you have captured.
Prerequisite: A basic familiarity with your camera. Open to all levels from novice to professional. All camera types are welcome, including cell phones.
Please bring 6-8 jpeg images of your work on a thumb drive to the first class.
