Eric Wehner

2+2=5 Havana, Cuba

I have been wanting to take a camera and photograph Cuba since I was in my late teens. Some 30 years ago that wasn’t an option. There were very few Americans visiting back then, and if they were, it was usually for political or media purposes. For an 18 year old from southern New Hampshire it was for the most part impossible. Fast forward to 2025 I finally got the opportunity to plan my trip, buy my plane tickets and purchase my visas to enter a place that I had only dreamed of visiting. I carefully packed my camera bag and chose the film stocks I wanted to use. I went to Costco, and gathered clothing donations from friends and family to bring and give back to the people of Cuba. Walking around Havana and Vinales is like taking a step back in time. There were times I was so captivated by what I was seeing I forgot that I had a camera in my hand. My only regret is not taking enough photos.  I am grateful for the opportunity that I had and I can’t wait to go back and visit all the great friends I made while I was there.
