A New Reality
Mark Rothko suggested that abstracts are a “pictorial equivalent for man’s new knowledge and consciousness of his more complex inner self.”
Sometimes one can read into a photograph a story that happened in the past, and a moment of being becomes a remnant of another time. Abstraction takes us on a journey that transcends tangible reality and draws us into a mysterious and mythical place where our fears, insecurities, and desires exist.
My work examines neglect from the perspective of self and the desire to peel away the layers of what once was and clear a space for a new and somewhat yet unknown reality.
