The Twelfth Annual Survey Exhibition sponsored by Pacific New Media Foundation
Online Exhibition Available September 1, 2020
Juror: Maika Pollack, Director and Chief Curator, John Young Museum of Art and University of Hawai‘i Mānoa Galleries + Assistant Professor of Curatorial Studies and Art History
This juried exhibition is open to all artists in Hawaii using photographic processes: analog or digital, color or BXW, alternative processes
The juror was pleased to see “so much good work employing different approaches and artistic lineages, and was impressed by the breadth of formal and intellectual methods.” We are grateful for all artists from the State who submitted work. We have much to be proud of as a photographic community in these difficult times. The selected images ask us to look, feel, and reflect upon where we are now, in this time and place.
Contemporary Photography in Hawai‘i 2020 features two key components:
1. A juried selection of individual images selected from individual entries from the State of Hawai‘i.
2. A set of juried portfolios consisting of a minimum of 8 and a maximum of ten images on a theme with an artist’s statement.
