Sandee Cohen has been teaching print and web graphics for over 20 years at design schools and conferences. She’s well known for her work with InDesign and has authored all versions of InDesign Visual Quickstart Guide. InDesign is a desktop publishing software application used to create posters, brochures, magazines, newspapers, and books. She also publishes articles on the website, InDesign secrets.
We Interviewed Sandee Cohen who is teaching workshops on Adobe InDesign coming up this spring. Her workshops include:
Adobe InDesign: Saturday and Sunday, March 29-30, 9am-4pm
Creating ePub Books From InDesign: Tuesday, April 1, 9am-4pm
Advanced InDesign Interactive: Wednesday, April 2, 9am-4pm
What are the unique features of InDesign; why use InDesign?
InDesign is a page layout program. So anyone creating print documents, ads, books, brochures, etc. must use it.
But it is also the core for creating eBooks and tablet apps.
Who would you recommend learn InDesign and why?
Anyone doing professional print work should learn and use InDesign. I do see many people trying to use MS Word for page layout. Word is NOT a page layout program.
It takes too long to get professional results using Word.
Why should someone take the workshop on InDesign rather than learning it themselves?
Because I’m more fun that learning it on your own.
Seriously, taking the class lets you ask questions right then and there. No book or video training can do that.
Anything that you would like to add about your own current projects?
Right now I’m working on teaching major corporations in jewelry and fashion how to use the program. I’ve also written a series of articles for Creativepro.com on “InDe-Illu-Shop” which shows how to use InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop all together.
